What should I do if I get into an accident?
Call 911 if you suspect any injuries. If it is safe to do so and your vehicle is drivable try to move it out of traffic. Just because your vehicle may move under its own power does not means that it is drivable. If you have any doubt have it towed. Exchange information with the other drivers. Instruct law enforcement to take your vehicle to Toyota San Diego at 5910 Mission Gorge Road. This will help to save you and your insurance company from a second tow. If law enforcement is not involved call Western Towing at (619)297-8697 and instruct them to take your vehicle to Toyota San Diego. We will take care of the towing charge and work it out with your insurance company. Notify your insurance company of the accident and tell them “Toyota San Diego is going to fix my car”. If your vehicle is drivable bring it to Toyota San Diego and tell the insurance company they can inspect it here.
Do I have to go to the insurance companies recommended shop?
You have the right to choose who repairs your vehicle. The insurance company cannot require you to have your vehicle repaired at their preferred shop. They may attempt to steer you to one of their preferred shops not for your benefit but for their own. Don’t let them attempt to fool you into believing that they will guarantee repairs done at their preferred shop. The only one guaranteeing the repair is the shop. We offer a lifetime guarantee on all repairs.
How long will it take to repair my vehicle?
It is difficult to tell how long the repair will take until we are able to disassemble it and determine all damages. At that point we will determine repair time based on an industry standard calculation of 1 day for every 4 labor hours. We are often able to beat this calculation, but it is a good starting point.
What is the claim payment process?
Whether you are the insured or claimant the insurance company will likely send you the first payment. This would be for the original estimate amount minus your deductible. We ask that you do not deposit this payment but rather hold it until the repair is complete and sign it over to us. There maybe additional payments coming from the insurance company if additional damages are found after the vehicle is disassembled. If these payments are not received by us by the time your vehicle is ready for pick-up we will ask that you sign a power of attorney so we can deposit the payments.
What is the difference between “OEM” and “Aftermarket” parts?
OEM stands for “original equipment manufacture”. These parts are made by the vehicle manufacture. Aftermarket (A/M) parts are made by a company other than the original vehicle manufacture.
What about a rental car?
We have Hertz rent-a-car on-site. This is much more convenient than having to wait to be picked-up. Just let us know and we will take you to there on-site office.
